TOTTENHAM FOR THE TITLE!

Not my words, Alan Hansen's. Yes, that's right, Hansen and his equally Spurs hating com padre Lawrenson both tipped Spurs for the title on MOTD last night. OK, I know they were taking the piss, but the urge to get carried away is gnawing at me like a plump little rat gorging on Champions League cheese. A similar performance against the Spam on Sunday and I'm going to find it difficult to avoid being as smug as Lineker was on that famous couch (good on you Gary, keep that Spurs flag flying).

I'm not really one for ratings, but here are a list of what I might call "notable observations based on my viewing of a surprisingly good quality stream"...
Hutton: Looks like a proper old fashioned right back. No poncey step overs here.

Corluka: I'm worried. I like the lad but am I the only one who thinks he's a bloody liability at centre back? Some good stuff but some other stuff that, on another day, could have had dire consequences.

Bassong: Good, if a little shaky, must be wishing for Ledley to get fit.

BAE: Bastard.

Wilson: When he plays well we win. I think it's as simple as that. Set himself apart from other DMs we've had in living memory with a superb goal and a couple of crafty backheels. Unbelievable.

Hudd: Him and Wilson look the business. Defensive enough to allow his mate to roam forward, and creative enough to pull something from nowhere when we're buggering about in the middle. Jenas, were you watching?

Keano: Hot and cold. Good assist, good goal, some good passes but why oh why oh why does he refuse to pass to JD? THAT is why this partnership doesn't work.

Defoe: Currently the best striker in the league.
You may feel that its a bit strong to have a pop at a few of them when we win 5-1 away from home. Don't mistake this for moaning - I'm over the frigging moon. All I'm saying is that it looks very much to me like there's even more to come from this lot. And that is incredible to say.

We won 5-1 and we still have another gear to move up into. Let's hope we keep our foot on the accelerator, keep the revs in the red and Mirror Signal Manoeuvre our way to glory (excuse the naffness of the car analogies, but once I started I couldn't stop).

So here we are sitting at the top of the table. It was only a week ago I was writing a list of my targets for the season - one of which can now be ticked off the list - the administering of a 5 goal drubbing. Maybe I should take a leaf out of Hansen's book and add the Premier league title to my requirements!

Wouldn't that be insane.

Why is BAE a bastard?
I think he's been in superb form and i thought he played well last night. I also disagree with you when you say Keane doesn't pass to defoe. His flick sent Defoe through for his second Goal. Keane is the most unselfish player in the team, he's a little dynamo up front, it's Defoe who never passes. Corluka... I totally agree with you, can't wait for Woody and King to get back some match fitness. As for the rest of the team they were all superb and I was well chuffed for Defoe, the guy deserved his hatrick.

would be nice to see all the pisstakers eat humble pie .....
all we can hope for is too beat all the smugness this year with determined
performance as was on display against hull.....they really dont like it when we do well.... Man u at home soon!

Defoe has improved no end since spell at Pompey- he's No1 striker. Others play around him or with him. Not sure how Keano will react if JD starts streaking ahead on goals front. Keano not 20 per season- Defoe is and will aslong as played 2 strengths.

That's the best Robbie's been since he came back from the bindippers.

His game has changed a bit, now he's Kapitan he looks more for the team performance than goals for himself.

i really don't get what your on about with BAE? even if you don't think he's good enough, why a bastard?

Are you 6 yeaers old or what? "can't help getting carried away" we were top at the beginning a few years back, your an emarrassment

The last comment said that Defoe is '20 a season'. When? He got EIGHT last season. Has hasn't had a decent total for a while now and there is little evidence to prove that he can do it. Don't get me wrong - I want him to score loads! And 3 goals in 2 games is a great start. But I struggle to see why EVERYONE thinks he is prolific - he scores in bursts, then has barren spells. I don't mind you appreciating a player, but please get the facts right. Let's wait and see if he can finally get 20 in a season. Fingers crossed.

Spurs going well and the West Ham game is the real test to see what we are going to do this season. Any talk of top 4 100% hinges on Palacios staying fit. Anything happens to him and we have no replacement. Harry would have to change the team entirely because Palacios allows us to play so many attacking players.

retarded comments by an eight year old

Were you even at the game? that was one of the best spurs performances i have seen in years.

Frank, I kind of understand what Grow up was trying to say. I wouldn't have used the same wording or spelling, however calling BAE a bastard is very harsh. I think he's been the most improved player and his crosses are reasonably accurate. I remember a couple of years ago when Lennon could get past any player but his crosses were always shite, it was very frustrating, now however he is almost the finished article. Last night he was superb. If you were to say Bentley... Bastard I might agree with you!

My BAE comment is due to an ongoing thread throughout my posts describing my inexplicable dislike of him. I'm in no way casting any aspersions on the legitimacy of his parents' marital status.

Oh well, it made me laugh when I wrote it so there you go.

And no 10:39, as it clearly says, I was not at the game.

Frank, Frank, Frank

Whilst I share your BAE issues, don't voice them to the proles, they just get upset.

Genuinely excited at the moment, just waiting for the pin to come along - it could be hammer shaped.

What the hell is everyones problem with Bentley? Seriously, has he really done anything wrong? Sure he has had a little bit of a pants time since joining us, car trouble and what not. But he is competing for a place against probably the most in form winger in the league at the moment.

I think it is disgusting how he comes on as a sub last night and gets booed by our own fans! He is the only one out there who is a spurs fan through and through and it angers me every time every time I hear someone giving him stick!

Just leave the F*** off and let him get his head down and work.

This is such a load of crap. Keane doesn't pass to Defoe? He played JD in quite beautifully a couple of times last night. And what are we supposed to make of your articulate description of Assou-Ekotto. To put it mildly, I think your intelligence is suspect. Please rethink and resubmit.

10.59... I agree that supporters booing their own players are twats. But he has REALLY under performed, maybe if he changed his lifestyle and stopped being such a flash knob, put his head down and started working hard in the gym and on the training ground he'd get his game back. He has definately got something otherwise we wouldn't have paid £15 million for him, but it's up to him to put the work in and get his form back. Currently he's happy to get his paycheck which we as supporters are getting mugged off paying for each week. If he's truly a Spurs supporter then he should bloody well sweat blood and tears to get that form back. So yeah he shouldn't be booed by arseholes but he needs to show some commitment too.

Sorry my last post should have been aimed at 11.03 not 10.59

Thanks 11.07 - I'm guess you just saw the highlights. Keane had a cracking game, good to see him back to something approaching his best, but the fact is he ignored more clear passes to JD than he made.

He doesn't seem to have this problem with Lennon - don't shoot the messenger!

Frank I watched the whole game on Justin.tv and I thought Keane was very unselfish through out. I do remember under Jol Defoe being very greedy and never passing to Keane or anyone else for that matter. They are both playing for the same position so maybe there is a bit of unhealthy competition. I honestly didn't notice Keane ignoring Defoe but maybe he was. Anyway it was a great game and I thought they were all superb. COYS

Frank for your BAE comment alone no real Spurs fan should visit your dross site. I hate you so called fans who sit in your armchairs and have nothing better to do than slag our own, sharing erroneous insights on your team' s favourites based on your viewing of match of the day highlights or some crap web stream, spouting the putrid bile of tabloid hacks and know nothing bloggers worst still you all post this crap as if the commentary is your own original insight.

Shaun said...

12.24 anon... If i had the money and wasn't unemployed I wouldn't have had to give up my season ticket and watch crappy streams. Do you think that because you go to the game and soak up the atmosphere you get more insight than watching a game on tv? I think you get a better perspective on tv however nothing can beat the atmosphere of being at the game. I agree with you that the BAE comment is naff as I personally think he's a great player. But I hate supporters like you who come out with shitty comments like "I hate you armchair supporters who... blah blah blah" F*@£ Off twat!
oh and get some balls and post using your name rather than anonymous!

Frank said...

I would also add to 12:24 that a) you know nothing of my match day habits, just because I can't get to poxy Hull on a Wednesday night you have automatically assumed I have never been to a game.

b) this is a blog, not a news site therefore it is opinion based, not fact based.

What makes me pity you is that you hate all these bloggers so much, yet here you are reading and commenting.

Do me a favour, click a couple of ads too while your here.

Surely the people booing our own were the "Supporters" inside the ground, not the "Armchair" supporters.

You can't boo a player from your own front room
